The Green Man – Performances 28th November – 03rd December
When she was a little girl Ivy believed in everything. Fairies, angels, time travel and even those stupid perky phrases plastered all over Grandma’s ornaments and mugs: ‘Everything has beauty but not everyone sees it’ was her absolute favourite.
Fast forward six years to 2022 and it’s difficult to believe in anything. Being a teenager in an uncertain world uprooted by harsh realities, magical thinking has no place. Imagination is a useless commodity.
Until one day a mysterious Green Man appears at Ivy’s house and changes everything…
Join us this winter on a musical adventure as we explore the value of believing in something and how powerful and magical the world can really be….
We’re looking for enthusiastic performers aged 8 – 25 for a mixture of singing and non-singing roles.
The audition will be a friendly, workshop style audition, which will include singing and acting. This will enable you to showcase and share your skills.

(Rolling the word around) Magic.
(to the audience) I mean even the word is cheesy.
Magic.
You can’t say it without sounding like a kids tv presenter or some creepy person from a sci fi show or weirdo cult.
And I’m not buying it. I’m just not buying it yeah? There is no way in the world what I think happened just happened because it’s not possible, it’s not within the realms of possibility. I must have just…..imagined it.
I remember my art teacher , Miss Dawson, saying that she went to see the Mona Lisa once , you know that famous painting? With the spooky smile? The ‘is she isn’t she’ smiling one that’s supposed to be super mysterious? Anyway, she said it was like the eyes were following you, like you couldn’t escape. And I remember thinking, what are you talking about? Why would you even say something like that? It’s just a painting, it’s not alive.
And I thought, arty people say stuff like that all the time. Like they’re touched by some sort of supernatural power, like they’re special and they can see beyond the everyday stuff, as if things reach out to them and give them different messages to the rest of us, secret hidden messages.
But that’s what it felt like just then. When you… when your…It was like you saw under my surface, saw something different in me, something I didn’t even know was there.
